10 December, 2022. A seminar on Human Rights Day was organized by by School of Law on December 12, 2022. The event was organized in collaboration with School of Politics and International Relations. The seminar was primarily organized as an activity of 5th term students who attended this event. The seminar covered three main themes, namely, 1. Role of National Commission on Human Rights 2. Human Rights and Environmental Degradation 3. Implementation of International Human Rights Treaties in Pakistan
The speakers for the event included Mr. Tariq Javed who is a member of National Commission on Human Rights from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He shared his thoughts on the role of the Commission in fostering human rights in the country. The second speaker of the event was Dr. Saweeda Rahman who is Assistant Professor in School of Politics and International Relations. She shared her views on the linkage of human rights with environmental protection. Mr. Ejaz Mustafa was the last speaker of the session who is serving as Project Officer, Rule of Law at UN Women. He touched upon the global framework of human rights law and implementation status of international human rights treaties.
The Director School of Law, Professor Dr. Aziz ur Rehman also shared his thoughts on the importance of human rights and thanked the worthy guest speakers. The event was moderated by Mr. Fahd Amin, Lecturer School of Law.
