Quaid-i-Azam University holds Workshop on Patent Filing for Research Students

The School of Law and the Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) jointly organized a workshop on patent filing for research students on June 13, 2023. The objective of the workshop was to orient research students about the importance of intellectual property and patent law to spur the culture of innovation and R&D in universities.

The workshop was conducted by a panel of experts, including Prof. Dr. Aziz ur Rehman, Director of the School of Law, Mr. Saad Nasrullah Advocate, and Mr. Ghulam Mujtaba from the Intellectual Property Organization Pakistan (IPO). The panelists provided the participants with useful practical insights about patent filing, patent prosecution, the role of the patent office, patent drafting, and patent infringement.

The workshop was attended by research students from various disciplines. The participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn about patent law and its importance for research and innovation. They also expressed their interest in obtaining further training on patent filing and prosecution.
