2nd National Law Moot Competition, 2024 Concludes at QAU

The National Law Moot Competition, organized by the School of Law at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), has successfully concluded. The event was graced by the presence of Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister Youth Program, who attended as the chief guest.

In his address at the concluding ceremony, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan emphasized the importance of legal education, describing lawyers as the true torchbearers of society. He shared various government initiatives aimed at empowering the youth across different fields, including the Pakistan Endowment Scholarships program, which will benefit law students. He also announced the formation of a National Youth Council, comprising students from various disciplines, which will serve as an advisory body to the government. Additionally, he highlighted the launch of the Green Youth Movement in universities to tackle climate change challenges.

Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar (S.I.), Vice-Chancellor of QAU, expressed his pleasure at the university’s achievements, noting that QAU has attained the 315th position in the global ranking. He praised the organizers for their efforts, stating that the Law Moot Competition provided students with an invaluable opportunity to refine their advocacy skills.

Dr. Aziz ur Rehman, Director of the School of Law, highlighted that 16 teams from across Pakistan participated in the 2nd National Law Moot Competition. He emphasized that mooting is a crucial experiential learning activity that enhances the practical skills of law students. This year’s competition was won by the National Law College Rawalpindi, with Bahria University’s team finishing as the runner-up.

The Moot Competition was organized by Moot Committee of students from the School of Law under the supervision of Mr. Muhammad Waqas Javed, Assistant Professor. The event was attended by notable guests, including the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Director Academics, Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq Ali, Members of the Islamabad Bar Council, the President of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, the President of the District Bar Association Islamabad, a large number of students and faculty members from the School of Law, and senior lawyers from the legal community. The successful conclusion of the National Law Moot Competition marks another milestone in QAU’s commitment to providing quality legal education and practical training opportunities for its students.
